4-H is a youth organization committed to building outstanding leaders with marketable skills to succeed in today’s global society. 4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults.
What is 4-H?
4-H Youth Development is part of Kentucky Cooperative Extension. Extension’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Kentucky citizens through non-formal education for the entire family. Extension agents and volunteers take the results of university research and explain it in such a way that different age groups can learn and apply the information to their own lives. Kentucky 4-H believes in providing positive youth development experiences that all youth to experience belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity.

4-H Clubs * If no school due to weather or illness, remember no club meetings!
Cloverbud Club is designed to introduce younger youth to 4-H. This group is comprised of 5-8 year olds that meet once monthly after school to learn all about the clubs and other opportunities that 4-H will have to offer once they turn 9. The purpose of Clovberbuds is to help young children learn life skills to become competent, caring and contributing citizens. This afterschool club usually has a waiting list so be sure to call the office to be placed on the list in case openings become available. We have such an interest in this club we would love to offer two clubs but we currently do not have leaders. We would welcome any volunteers to help lead Cloverbud Clubs. Cloverkids Club is designed to be an extension of our Cloverbud program. This club is for youth from the age of 9 years old to 5th grade. Space will be limited for this club and we are currently looking for a few good volunteers to get it up and running again. Please contact our office if you are interested.
This club has had several successful years and we hope to continue the tradition. It is currently in need of a volunteer. Please reach out to our office if you would be interested!
This club introduces youth to the proper handling and care of their canine friends. This club is open to youth ages 9-18. The club meets on the 1st Thursday and the 3rd Monday at 6:30 p.m. of every month. One meeting is usually with dogs and one meeting is without. You don't have to own a dog to join, you can still come and learn proper care and educational information about dogs! Make sure you complete the proper paperwork for your furry friend if you do bring him or her. Also, make sure to bring great motivational treats when working with your dog. Youth can participate in area dog shows or the state fair dog show if they would like. More information can be obtained from the office if you have any questions. We are currently in need of a volunteer for this club. Please reach out to our office if you are interested.
NEW CLUB ALERT! We are excited to get this brand new club up and running. 4-H Homeschool clubs are a part of the 4-H youth development organization that offers a variety of activities and projects for homeschoolers. 4-H clubs are based on the idea that children learn best by doing, and they offer hands-on projects in areas such as science, health, agriculture, and civic engagement.
This is an exciting new club filled with all the creepy crawly information you can imagine! Our new leader is excited to offer this new club. Come join in on the fun! 4-H entomology clubs are programs that teach young people about insects and their importance in the world. These clubs can help youth develop critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills.
This club educates and introduces youth to a variety of livestock. Members are engaged in a variety of hands-on activities and experiences that cultivate an increased understanding and appreciation of agriculture. Livestock offers projects in the areas of beef cattle, sheep, swine, goats, dairy, and food science. Participants who wish to show 4-H livestock at the state fair will need to complete several hours of education and this is the perfect opportunity to do that! Complete your online registration and select Livestock Club so that you will receive updates.

This club typically meets at the Anderson County Sportsmen's Club on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 6:00 p.m. during the spring and summer for trap. They meet at Anderson Archery on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. for archery. This club is for ages 9-18. There is a $40 charge to cover cost of supplies and ammunition! There will be some kick off meetings in February and March to get the club up and going. Check our website for dates and times.
This will be a club designed for middle and high school students to explore leadership skills. They will engage in various projects and learn valuable information on leadership.

How does 4-H benefit youth?
4-H’ers, regardless of their background, socio-economic status, race or gender, benefit from their participation in Kentucky 4-H. Positive youth development studies have affirmed that compared to other youth, young people involved in 4-H are:
- Four times more likely to contribute to their communities.
- Two times more likely to be civically active.
- Two times more likely to make healthier lifestyle choices.
- Two times more likely to participate in Science, Engineering and Computer Technology programs during out-of-school time.
- 4-H girls are two times more likely (Grade 10) and nearly three times more likely (Grade 12) to take part in science programs compared to girls in other out-of-school time activities.
